So many ladies out there are mystified by eye makeup. Basically eye makeup is not a difficult skill, once you have some practice.
Preparing the Eyes
Before anything else, start out by applying a thin layer primer on the lids.
Choose the Right Color
The colors of eye makeup can depend on both the hair and the eye color, contrary to some other opinions. Blonde hair will look good with taupes, browns, crème and lighter colors, and darker hair will look good with darker browns, grays and mochas. Gray or ash color hair looks great with purples, blues and darker shades of gray. For redheads, coppers, red tones, peaches and pinks go quite well, though the brown shades work great as well.
As far as eye color goes, the shadow and liner that looks great is that which is the opposite of the eye color itself. Also, brown shades go great with brown and green eyes, and the smokey eye look, which is based on grays; black and brown shades will go with all eye colors.

Eye Makeup Tricks
Mascara
Unless you have big beautiful and naturally dark lashes, always add some mascara to provide drama.
Using A Single Shadow Tone
You can just use one color to completely cover the lid, this is simple, quick and looks great.
The Crease of the Eye
You can make the eye appear larger and more dramatic by adding a darker shade of shadow than the one all over the lid, and using a brush to add it directly into the crease of the eyelid.
Eyeliner
Many women wear eyeliner all the time and some save it for a special evening where a more dramatic look is required. This is really up to you, though going to work with very dark liner all over the eye maybe overkill.
You can add liner to the inside of the bottom of the eyelid, this will help to add depth and make very large eyes more intense. Applying liner around the outside of the eye can make small eyes appear larger.
Working with liner takes practice. Make sure to smudge the line, so it appears softer, this is the best way to make liner appear more natural.

Blending
The best eye makeup looks natural and blends all throughout the eye. There should be no sharp layers, and the colors should blend into each other.
The Shape of the Eyes
The techniques are just a part of the eye makeup adventure and using the above eye makeup tricks can go a long way to getting you that beautiful look that you want. The shape of the eye is another important element in getting your eyes to be their best. Whether you have small eyes that you want to make bigger, or large eyes that need to have more depth, eye makeup can really do the trick!
Narrow Set Eyes
Apply the shadows and liner on the outside edges of the eye.
Wide Set Eyes
Apply inside the inner corners and try to avoid the outermost areas.
Deep Eyes
The deep-set eyes are perfect for adding a nice line of liner on top of the lid.
Large Eyes
The large eyes can use all colors of shadow and you can add liner inside of the lower lid line, this will make them appear richer and add some depth and definition.
Small Eyes
Small eyes do well with glimmering and shimmery shades of shadows. Do not use dark shades, like black, very dark browns and the like, as they will make the eye even smaller.
