Permanent makeup is useful for people who want to wear makeup, but may have allergic reactions to the ingredients in conventional makeup. Some people, may have issues with tremors (hand shaking) due to Parkinson's disease or arthritis, that make these kinds of movements painful and difficult.
When choosing a tattoo artist to perform a permanent makeup procedure, keep in mind that you must find an artist that is experienced in permanent makeup. These procedures are permanent, just like any other tattoo, and it is important to find someone skilled in this area. Removal may be possible at a later date, however, it is not always possible and may include unwanted complications. It may take several separate sessions to complete this procedure. Mild discomfort may accompany these procedures, but most tattoo artists use a topical anesthetic that will help alleviate some of the pain.
Most results appear natural 2-3 weeks after application, when swelling is completely gone. Permanent makeup may fade over time, especially if exposed to sunlight frequent
ly. It is usually at least 10 years before fading is an issue. However, it may be necessary to have touch up sessions as early as two or three years after the permanent makeup is applied, to restore the original color. Many procedures last without any touch ups.
Adverse reactions to the pigments used, formation of scars, skin peeling or cracking, and localized infections are some of the problems that can arise when applying permanent makeup.
The cleanliness of the tattoo instruments are important, so as to not contract a serious infection such as HIV or hepatitis. These kinds of adverse events are rare and most people were happy with the permanent makeup procedure.
